TODAY Show talks about Bras and Breast Cancer
Finally some real conversation opens up about siome scary breast health myths. Ann Curry talks with Dr. Roshina Raj, Medical Editor of Health Magazine about taking care of our breasts. You can watch the segment on the today show website: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/33601848#33601848
The segment really highlights the importance of knowing your breasts and really being aware of the unique (but very normal) qualities of your individual breasts. Breasts are not perfectly symmetrical, one might be bigger or smaller, rounder or wider, high or lower. Your breasts will change throughout your lifetime (six times or more) and even depending on the day of the month may have varying density and tenderness.
There have been several frightening yet unscientific internet claims that breast cancer can be caused by certain chemicals in antiperspirants, physical injury to the breast tissues or underwire bras. Turns out thesse are just a few more urban myths. No studies have shown these to increase breast cancer risk.
If you want to know more about the real risks and solutions to wearing a bad bra, I suggest you read; ”The underestimated health risks of incorrectly fitting bras” Dr. Hans-Ulrich Kruger, Senior Consultant, Department of Internal Medicine/Oncology, Rehabilitation Centre of Bavaria Clinic, Freyung . Dr Kruger address some of the proven health concerns of ill fitting bras such as deep grooves in the shoulders or painful pressure and irritation from improperly fit underwire. Dr Kruger also talks about how bras should work with the lymphatic system to promote good circulation and whole body health.
